ABOUT NEW YORK
Topping the Global Economic Power index, New York is widely recognized as the most influential city in the world. Home to the United Nations headquarters and with 36% of the population foreign-born, New York has long been a destination for people from all over the world to pursue their dreams.

A business icon
From the financiers on Wall Street to the media kings of Madison Avenue, New York is more than a leader in these fields, it is an icon. Global powerhouses including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, American Express, and Time Warner are based here alongside tech start-ups such as Foursquare. New York boasts the headquarters of 45 Fortune 500 companies and is a major hub for foreign corporations, which occupy 10% of the city’s private sector jobs.

Culture of competitiveness
The most densely populated city in the U.S. and the go-to location for those with high ambitions in business, New York is known for its highly competitive culture. As the saying goes: “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.”

HGBSE FACILITIES
New York is a location that is available to students on our Global Study Abroad program. Classes and instructions are led by HGBSE partner school Faculty/Instructors and their guests, and our staff are on hand to support students. We utilize the Manhattan Institute of Management space in the Wall Street area; and AMA center on Broadway near Time Square. For our Hospitality and Culinary study abroad, students receive hands on training at the Institute of Culinary Education. These locations give our students state-of-the-art learning environment in an unbeatable New York City landscape. Activities are coordinated from our New York Office.

STUDENT LIFE
Meet the experts
New York is a leader in innovation and an international trendsetter. You will hear from thought leaders in business management, leadership, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. A packed schedule of guest speakers, company visits, and networking events gives you plenty of opportunities to discover and discuss the latest developments in these fields, direct with the experts themselves.
All of the professors/instructors have a combination of business experience and strong academic credentials. Faculty members from our partner schools give classes at our New York locations. Many also teach at the world’s best-known business schools and universities.

Life outside the classroom
With so much culture and entertainment available in New York, you will never be short of things to do outside class. It really is the city that never sleeps. We organize an events calendar that will help you make the most of your time in New York and sample all the delights the city has to offer. Bike tours of Central Park, baseball games at the Yankee stadium, Broadway shows – we’ll show the sights and give you tips on where to go in your free time.

Focus on your career
To support students in their efforts to enter the notoriously competitive job market in New York, we run an Internship programme alongside our intensive career development programme. Visas and Compliance staff will be available to answer questions related to a student’s visa status, travel, and work authorization in the U.S.

ACCOMMODATION
Student accommodation is available at our resident in the Central Park and Columbia University areas of Manhattan. The resident offers our students apartment-style living in the center of New York City.
