OVERVIEW

This program presents material sequentially as it will likely occur in actual projects. You’ll gain a better understanding of how to apply project management concepts and the variations between them. Key and critical topics are explored in-depth as is appropriate for an intermediate, advanced level understanding. You will learn about project selection, developing project strategies, creating a schedule model, statusing and forecasting, project recovery, and more.

This program meets or exceeds the educational requirements for those interested in the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification.

In this program, you’ll gain a better understanding of how to apply project management concepts and any variations between them. You will learn more advanced project management tasks, such as how to select projects and develop strategies for them, how to create a complex schedule model, and how to identify and assess any risks in the project. You’ll learn about statusing and forecasting, in addition to project recovery concepts, and project termination.

This program meets or exceeds the educational requirements for those interested in the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification. Students who are interested in earning the PMP credential must schedule and pay for testing on their own after program completion.

REQUIREMENTS

This program can be taken from either a Mac or a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, Microsoft Word (for assignment submissions), and Windows Media Player (which is available as a free download). We recommend that you use the latest version of Internet Explorer in place of other Web browsers.

PREREQUISITES

Students enrolled in this program should have at least two years’ experience managing projects or complete the Essentials of Project Management program.

 

INSTRUCTOR

Nikki Choyce, PMP has been involved in the project management field for almost 20 years and has worked as a consultant and trainer for much of that time. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and very active in the project management community. She has worked in a variety of industries, including Information Technology, Insurance, Manufacturing, Marketing, Aerospace, Construction, and Telecommunications. She has worked with Microsoft Project for over 10 years.

Erica Kirwan,
PMP has managed numerous projects within a Fortune 200 Financial Services company as a Senior Project Manager. She has more than seven years of experience in process & project management methodologies and holds a Master of Public Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, and a Certificate in Project Management.

1.  Can I register for programs if I am an international student?
Yes, because our programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school.  Most schools offer telephone or online registration.

2.  How long does it take to complete a program?

All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. When you register, you receive six (6) months to complete this program.

3.  Do I have to buy additional materials?

No additional materials are required for this program.

4.  Can I get financial assistance?

Our courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for aid.

5.  What happens when I complete the program?
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.

6.  Am I guaranteed a job?
Our programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don’t provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

7.  Who will be my instructor?

Each student is paired with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction.  The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.

8.  What software or hardware do I need in order to take online programs and what are the system requirements?

In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don’t have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time.  We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

9.  Can I use a Mac?

Yes, this program can be taken on a Mac.

12.  Are there any state/national exams your students will be prepared to take once they successfully complete the program?

Students may wish to sit for the PMP® certification exam. Students will need to arrange and pay for the tests independently from this program.

13.  I’m new to project management, is this program the right fit for me?

Yes. You will find that this program starts from the ground up laying a solid foundation of project management terminology and concepts. Then, after you gain a foundation, you will move on to mastering the concepts with a level of expertise that you can bring into the industry. You can even qualify to take national certifying exams when you complete the program.

14.  What does the PMI R.E.P. logo signify, and how does it help me?

15.   What if I don’t have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided?
The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don’t worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee may be charged for an extension.
