Project Management career opportunities are increasing even when the job market is challenging. Developing the project management skills employers demand can improve your marketability and may be transferrable from one industry to another, giving you a lot of flexibility.
In this program, you’ll learn the knowledge and skills essential to project managers and those who work on projects in other support roles. The materials in this program are aligned with the international recognized standards of project management. This program is oriented to concepts and knowledge areas such as Time, Cost, Risk and Communications. Each lesson focuses exclusively on a single topic so that you can more easily grasp that topic before moving onto the next.
Once complete, students will meet or exceed the educational pre-requisites for either the Certified Associate In Project Management (CAPM®) certification offered through the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.
You will learn how to do the following tasks as they relate to project management:
PMP, Project Management Professional, Project Management Professional (PMP), PMBOK, PgMP, PMI-RMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) and the PMI REP Logo are registered marks of the Project Management Institute.
Projects are temporary endeavors and can be simple or complex. While simple ones can be managed with a little bit of planning and common sense, complex projects need a more formal approach. Gain a strong knowledge of project management foundations in this program. You will learn the key elements of good planning such as estimating, establishing project boundaries (scope), and scheduling. You’ll also learn how to anticipate potential problems (risks) and ways to mitigate them.
This program is based on The Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), which establishes the international standard regarding the project management discipline. This program also meets or exceeds the requirements for those interested in the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification. Students who are interested in earning the CAPM credentials must schedule and pay for the exam on their own after program completion.
As your experience grows, so will your need for increased competencies. After this program, you can continue your professional development by moving onto the Mastering Project Management and/or Microsoft Project programs.
