OVERVIEW

Entrepreneurship, the process of starting and running a business, can result in ground-breaking success. This program is for students who want to start their own business or for students who may have a business that they want to make more successful. It will walk them through the process of starting and growing a business.

This program addresses concepts, such as establishing that business plans are feasible, developing specific objectives to bring plans into reality, and offering methods of operating a business to optimize its success.

OBJECTIVE:

The goal of this program is to take the student through the process of starting a business. At the end of the program, the student will have or will be close to beginning his or her business.

Specifically, the course will address how to do the following:

  • Determine if a business is right for you
  • Develop business ideas and concepts
  • Establish that the business is actually realistic and feasible
  • Understand legal issues and choose the best form of organization and planning the best exit for you and business
  • Create a realistic and implementable business plan that will help you raise money, make the best decisions, and operate your business successfully
  • Obtain the resources you need, such as money, partners, customers, and financing
  • Use social media and other web strategies to build success

DETAILS:

This course will help you start a successful business. To accomplish this, the course will take you through the processes of generating ideas, proving feasibility, developing a bankable business plan, and approaching the start-up and operation of your business.
You will learn skills and build business knowledge in areas such as business law and marketing finance. You will also learn the elements involved in becoming a competent and successful business owner and entrepreneur.

Develop detailed knowledge of the industry you are interested in, while you develop comprehensive business strategies. Also build your business network, as you develop your plans and learn about essential business trends, such as the use of social media, globalization, and outsourcing.
Learn how to present yourself and your business ideas confidently in order to gain the desired results and resources.

Kris Solie-Johnson, chancellor and president of the American Institute of Small Business, best-selling author, educator, speaker, and mother of three, is an energetic and passionate entrepreneur. Her books are in public libraries, high schools, colleges, and military bases both nationally and internationally. Solie-Johnson has an MBA in Venture Management from the University of St. Thomas and over 19 years of experience helping entrepreneurs reach their goals quickly through joint venture partnerships, creative marketing programs, and innovative financial options. She’s dedicated to motivating and inspiring owners to achieve beyond their dreams.

1. Can I register for programs if I am an international student?
Yes, because our programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school. Most schools offer telephone or online registration.

2. How long does it take to complete a program?
All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. Upon registering, you’re given six (6) months to complete this program.

3. Do I have to buy additional materials?
All the materials you’ll need are included, and their cost will be covered by your tuition. We will ship all materials ground service upon enrollment.

4. Can I get financial assistance?
These courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for any aid. In some cases, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. Additionally, some students may qualify for financial assistance when they enroll, if they meet certain requirements.

5. What happens when I complete the program?
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.

6. Am I guaranteed a job?
Our programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don’t provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

7. Who will be my instructor?
Each student is paired with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.

8. What software or hardware do I need in order to take online programs and what are the system requirements?
In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don’t have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

9. Can I use a Mac?
Yes, you can use a Mac for this program.

10. How can I get more information about this program?

12. Do I need to know how to read or create financial spreadsheets?
No, you do not need to know how to create financial spreadsheets. We will teach you what you need to know and show you many ways that financial spreadsheets and projections can be produced regardless of you level of financial background.

13. Do I need to have a lot of money that I either invest or raise from others?
No, you do not need to start with a lot of money. We show how to get started with as little as possible and how to obtain financing from investors, banks, government programs, and other sources.

14. What if I already have a business?
If you already have a business, this course will help you to ensure that your business has the best plan and the best strategy. This course will also teach you about the implementation of a business plan such as marketing, hiring, and managing.

15. Is there a great deal of reading?
We have designed each lesson so that it has about an hour of reading beyond the online lesson. We provide options for reading and other resources for help, if you need them.

16. Do I get individual attention?
Every business is unique; therefore, you will need individual attention. This program is designed to assist you and your personal business plans.

17. Does this program work for any type of business?
This program is applicable to any business. The fundamental organizational and strategic issues are similar for any type of business in any industry.

18.   What if I don’t have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided?
The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don’t worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee may be charged for an extension.
