Overview

PMI

Are you interested in learning more about project management? Whether your intent is to become a certified project manager or if you simply want to become more productive in your current role, this is the Programme for you. Build a solid foundation of essential project management terminology, processes, and tools. According to a recent study conducted for the Project Management Institute (PMI), an estimated one million project management jobs worldwide will be created each year throughout the next decade.

Projects can be simple or complex. While simple ones can be managed with a little bit of planning and a healthy dose of common sense, complex projects need a more formal approach. In this course you can learn the key elements of good planning such as estimating, establishing project boundaries (scope) and scheduling. You will also learn how to anticipate potential problems (risks) and ways to mitigate them. This Programme is based on the internationally recognized standard: A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge® (PMBOK), which ensures that you are learning project management methodologies, concepts, and terminology recognized worldwide and applicable across all industries. Upon completion of this Programme, you will be able to put that new knowledge to use immediately.

This combined online Programme consists of two parts. The first part, The Essentials of Project Management, will provide you with a solid foundation of project management concepts and ensure that you are familiar with the terminology. Completion of this part of the Programme meets or exceeds the requirements for those interested in the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) ®, certification. The second course is the PMP Exam Preparation course designed to focus you on the most testable concepts of project management and assist you in your certification goals.

PMBOK® Guide, PMI®, PMP®, CAPM®, and the PMI R.E.P. logo are either marks or registered marks of the Project Management Institute, Inc.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this Programme, you will be able to do the following:

  • Understand the essential elements of a project management foundation
  • Describe the concepts of project life cycle phases and project management process groups and how they are different
  • List and describe the ten project management knowledge areas
  • Understand and describe all project management processes and how they applied on projects
  • Meet or exceed the formal project management education requirement for the CAPM® or PMP® certification exam

Detail

Project management career opportunities are increasing even when the job market is challenging. Developing the project management skills employers demand can improve your marketability and may be transferrable from one industry to another which provides you with more flexibility.

In this Program, you will learn the knowledge and skills essential to project managers and those who work on projects in other support roles. The materials in this Program are aligned with the internationally recognized standards of project management. This Program is oriented by knowledge areas such as Time, Cost, Risk, and Communications. Each lesson focuses exclusively on a single topic so that you can more easily grasp the concept.

Once complete, students will meet or exceed the educational pre-requisites for either the Certified Associate In Project Management (CAPM)® or the Project Management Professional (PMP) ® certification offered through the Project Management Institute.

PMBOK® Guide, PMI®, PMP®, CAPM®, and the PMI R.E.P. logo are either marks or registered marks of the Project Management Institute, Inc.
